Where is the airport located?

The airport terminal building is located at 2300 West Washington Avenue, approximately three miles south of downtown Yakima. A map of the Yakima area can be found on the Google map web site.

How early should I be at the airport?

It is suggested that you are at the airport at least 90 minutes before your scheduled departure time.  This will provide passengers ample time to locate vehicle parking, check-in for their flight, and proceed through the security checkpoint.

Why is it recommended to check-in at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before my departure time? If you do not have an electronic boarding pass and need a boarding pass from the ticket counter or if you have checked baggage that must be processed through the ticket counter, you must get your boarding pass or check your bag no later than 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of your aircraft.  The ticket counter will close 40-minutes prior to departure time to load passengers, load baggage, and prepare the aircraft for its on-time departure.  If the ticket counter is not closed at least 40-minutes prior to scheduled departure time, the flight cannot be loaded and launched on time.  It will be all the passengers on the aircraft being delayed rather than just the late arrival.  If you arrive late AND you have your boarding pass, the TSA security officers will process you through passenger screening until the very last moment.  But, you need both your personal I.D. and your boarding pass to proceed through security screening.  If you do not have a boarding pass, TSA cannot help you at this time.

Are rental cars available in the terminal building?
Budget, Avis, and Hertz rental car companies are located in the main lobby of the terminal. Budget telephone number is 509-248-6767, Avis telephone number is 509-469-4543 and Hertz’s number is 509-452-9965. In addition to rental cars, Budget provides truck rentals at the airport.

Is food and beverage service available in the terminal?
Vending machines are located in the baggage claim area and in the secure concourse providing both drinks and snacks.

Where do I find a taxi?

Taxi cabs are parked outside the front door of the terminal building. If a cab is not available, a list of cabs with contact information can be located between the two main terminal doors.  Additionally, a few local hotels may provide transportation to and from the airport free of charge.
